Entry level business analyst certification – ECBA
IIBA ECBA (Entry Certificate in Business Analysis) is for entry level business analysts and does not require any prior experience. This is the level 1 certification by IIBA for business analysts.
Now, IIBA has four levels of certifications. We have discussed these New IIBA Business Analyst Certifications in one of the previous posts.
In this post, I am going to tell you about the Level 1 certificate known as ECBA (Entry Certificate in Business Analysis).
Purpose
Purpose of this certification to standardize the Business Analyst knowledge at the entry level. This was a much needed certification required to help professionals, who wish to enter the Business Analysis role.
Pre-requisites
There are no pre-requisites for appearing for this certification. You don’t need to have any prior experience as a business analyst. It’s an exam-based certification.
Eligibility
To earn the ECBA® designation, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 21 hours of Professional Development Training in the past four years.
- Signed Code of Conduct.
ECBA Exam details
The ECBA® exam is 1 hour long and consists of 50 multiple choice questions. The questions are basic multiple choice that test the candidate’s knowledge and understanding defined by the competencies for this level 1 certificate in the IIBA Certification Framework. The guiding book is the BABOK v3.
Certification Knowledge and Skills
The certificate exam will need you to have the requisite knowledge as per BABOK v3 and the distribution is as follows:
- Business Analysis Knowledge – 25%
- BABOK® Guide Knowledge – 75%
The Level 1 exam will test the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of the above components within the BABOK® Guide v3, specifically:
