Govt Adopts AI to Combat Rising Online Gambling Challenges

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to monitor more precisely survey or online gambling sites that spread everywhere.

 These technologies assist the ministry in spotting trends, enabling it to adapt and develop methods of blocking that are able to keep pace with operators who change their approach almost daily. 

However, the ministry said that most of this money was circulating in online gambling — with a value expected to reach Rp400 trillion (US$25.7 billion) by 2024 at its worst case scenario. 

In response, the ministry is cooperating with National Police ( POLRI ), Financial Services Authority ( OJK ) and other relevant agencies to intensify suppression both in operational measures as well as blocking of bank accounts for online gambling transactions.
